MORE MUSIC.
MERRIER HOLIDAY SEASON. BANDS IX DEMAND. [ A further indication of the return to brighter and. indeed, merrier times, is | given by the fact that there lias been a ' greater demand over the holiday period for Auckland dance bands than" for the past eight years. This fact was mentioned this morning by Mr. Frank Egerton, secretary of the Auckland Musicians' Union. Mr. Egerton said that during the holiday season Auckland musicians had received engagement in a variety of places, and ''ombinations had gone as far away as Tauranga. Holiday resorts had also kepnlv sought dance bands, and at one isMmd alone five bands had been engaged. Most of these engagements had been for from a week to ten days geqerally speaking. It might be pointed out, add-d Mr. Egerton, that there had been twice as many musicians engaged this year as compared with last Christmas and N?w \ear. despite the fact that those engaging them had had to pay increased wages—-musicians were actually receiving over £1 a week more than they received six months ago. One night engagements at parties and weddings had been numerous, and it had been almost impossible to get capable players during the holiday periods.
