CLEANING MUD STAINS. ! To remove mud spots from a cloth eoat dissolve a teaspoonrul of carbonate of soda in a pint of water and sponfre the marks with tliis solution until they disappear. Then press the coat on the wrong side with a warm iron. When glace kid shoe* are muddy the dirt should be removed with a damp sponge. Then allow the shoes to dry and polish them with an oily rag. Fine oatmeal, rubbed on with a piece of clean flannel, is splendid for cleaning dirty marks off suede shoes. To cloan a soiled macintosh. spread it on a table and cover the marks with paste made of fuller's earth, leave the macintosh to become dry and then brush off the paste. Mud stains on umbrellas should be rubbed with methylated spirits.
