WHEEL AND TRACK NOTES.

WINNING IN AUSTRALIA. Great Way when raced in Xew Zealand was always recognised as a trotter possessing speed, but,, like liis sire, I'eterwah, he had a habit of breaking just when he was thought to be going comfortably. Since being taken to West Australia Great Way has mended his ways, and at the Harvey meeting held last month he was the star attraction. In the Brunswick Handicap of a mile and a half Great Way conceded 205 yards start and won at a mile rate ot 2.15%. The Harvey Club provides one ot tlie minor fixtures near Perth, but its last meeting attracted a record attendance. A HARD TASK. •Although Our McKinney won at his last outing, he is set a hard task in being asked to give 60yds and a beating to some performed pacers in the Grandstand Handicap on the opening day of the Auckland meeting. He is a good beginner and is solid, but the ground he will have to make up may tell against him over the last couple of furlongs. . HAS A HARD TASK. Kewpie's Crest is working usefully at Epsom, and the bay son of Blue Mountain King is putting a lot of heart into his. track essays." 11c is down to contest the Christmas Handicap on the first day at Epsom, but is set a very difficult tusk oft 36yds. He is a good stayer and will be finishing on when the others arc stopping, but mav 1 iiid the task ot beating some of those engaged a trifle, beyond him. Kewpie's Crest may be driven by C. G. Smith. NOT A GOOD STAYER. Stargum, who has been off the scene for some time, in to resume racing at the Auckland meeting, and, judging by the appearance of the Guuuligger gelding, he lias- got through plenty of work on the tracks in the north. When raced previously Stargum showed a lot of speed ior a novice, but was not the best of stayers, and he' will have to improve in this respect to hold his own in this class at Epsom. A SOLID CUSTOMER. Although lie has not raced for some time, Bingen Sun trotted with plenty of freedom over a couple of circuits at Epsom yesterday and is bearing a bright appearance. Bingen Sun has only won one racc, but on that occasion easily outpaced the opposition, while he followed it up by running second oil the second day. One thing in his favour is his solidity, and the novice square-gaiters will not have to make any mistakes for liim to bo in at the finish.
