NEW COMPANY.
BRITISH CONCERN.
Trade With Germany on Barter
Principle.
GOVERNMENT INFORMED. United Press Association. —Copyright. LONDON, December 25. The "Financial News" says it understands that a new company called Compensation Brokers, Ltd., has been formed by two London banks to bring together 'business people in Britain and foreign countries who are interested in trade by barter. The company will act purely as a brokerage concern and will effect introductions between interested parties, on a commission basis. It will not finance transactions and there will be no- question of making a loan. The company's first efforts, says the journal, will be directed toward encouraging barter between Germany and the British Empire. Important factors in this are Britain's rearmament programme and Germany's need of raw materials. Many British merchants are unable to fulfil commitments, especially in iron and s,teel deliveries, owing to the precedence given to armament orders. These commitments, it is felt, could be filled in Germany against the delivery of raw materials from the Empire. The British Government has been kept informed of the compiiny's plans.
