STOLE FROM BROTHER.
PAINTER SENT TO PRISON.
At present serving one month's imprisonment for theft at Te Aroha, Leonard Hilton Lowndes, painter, aged 38, was brought from the prison to-day to the Police Court, where he pleaded guilty to a charge of stealing a suit of clothes, suitcase and unemployment levy book, of a total value of £10, the property of his brother, Sydney Lowndes.
Detective Sergeant McHugh said accused had been staying with his brother at Helensville for three months. After he left his brother on October 29 it was found that the articles mentioned had disappeared. Lowndes pawned his brother's suit for £1, afterwards selling the pawn ticket for 2/0. He pledged the suitcase. Accused had previously been in trouble.
Lowndes was sentenced to one month's imprisonment.
