ALL CEREALS DEARER. MANY FRESH ADVANCES. Since last report there has been no let-up in the high prices ruling for most classes of poultry unci stock lood. Pollard is still in short supply and merchants have raised the price of Australian to i £9 7/6 per ton, which makes very dear feeding. Charges for local mill pollard are considerably less at £0 10/ ex the mill and £7 5/ through stores, but supplies from this source are not nearly . sufficient. Bran is in ample supply, and is , unchanged at £0 157 per ton. , The market for oats in the south is very firm, and the local price has been advanced to 4/9 per bushel. Chaff is steady at the . recent advance, which brought the rate to £8 12/6 per ton. Fowl wheat lias advanced another Id per bnsliel to 6/9 and enjoys a steady market. Maize is scarcely a competitor, as the price now asked, 7/7 per bushel, is the highest that has ruled for many years, and is prohibitive to consumers except for special purposes. The drought in Australia is restricting supplies of cereals from that source, and feed barley is in short supply. Local quotations are 3d a bushel higher at 5/3 per bushel for clipped. (New potatoes are very plentiful and merchants are quoting 3/ to 3/6 per sugar bag. The market is still supplied with Cana- : dian onions, which sell readily at 27/6 per 1001b bag.
