LEAGUE COUNCIL.

Efforts to Reach Solution Urged on Powers.

DANGERS OP PROLONGATION. British Official Wireless. (Received 1 p.m.) RUGBY, December 13. The League of Nations Council adopted unanimously at Geneva a resolution which recommends members of the League represented on the Non-Intervention, Committee to spare no efforts to render the agreement for non-intervention in Spain as stringent as possible, and to ensure effective supervision. The resolution .also expresses sympathy with the action which has just been taken on the international plane by the United Kingdom and France with a view to avoiding dangers which prolongation of the present state of affairs in Spain are causing to peace and, good understanding between the nations. The Council notes that there are problems of a humanitarian character in connection with the present situation in regard to which co-ordination of action of an international character is desirable as soon as possible, and recognises that in the reconstruction which Spain may have to undertake international assistance may also be desirable. . ■ ■ The resolution also authorises the Secretary-General, M. Avenol, to make available the assistance of the technical services of the League should a suitable opportunity-occur. 1 ~
