GAME IN COUNTRY.
QUEENSLANDERS REACH 300. T. ALLEX TOPS CENTURY. IPSWICH, December 12. The English cricket team treated the two days' match against the Queensland country team, which was commenced to-day, in the nature of a "picnic" game. The weather was warm and the wicket lifeless. Nevertheless, the country team ~ we R to total 300 runs in 242 minutes. 1. Allen, a regular State representative, made 118 runs, including two sixes and 14 fours, in 157 minutes. Maddern made 62 and 1). Allen 26 not out. Hammond took three wickets for 40 and Sims three for 83. The English opening batsmen, Fagp and Worthington had useful batting practice. Fagg was missed first ball. England made 31 for no wickets (Fagg 23). The commencing dates of the remaining four Tests are:—December IS, at Sydney; January 1, at Melbourne; January 29, at Adelaide; February 26, at Melbourne again. England won the first at Brisbane by the sixth record margin of runs (322) in the 135 games played since 1876., when Australia won the initial contest at Melbourne by 45 runs.
