NEW CONSUL.
FOR UNITED STATES. OFFICIAL FROM KARACHI. DEPARTURE OF MR. BOYLE. Mr. W. F. Boyle. American Consul at Auckland, has received cable advice that Mr. Jose]i!i G. Groeninger, now American Consul at Karachi, India, has been transferred to the position of Consul at Auckland and will proceed to his new post as soon as possible. Mr. Groeninger is from the State of Maryland and entered the United States foreign service in 1911 as Vice-Consul for Copenhagen. Since then he lias served in Berlin, Esthonia. Rotterdam, Java, and Karachi, where he has been stationed since 1931. As yet no advice has been received as to the post to which Mr. Boyle will be transferred. Mr. Boyle has been stationed at Auckland since May, 1925, having previously held positions as Consul at several posts in the Mexican desert. He arrived about two months in advance of the American Fleet and was able to receive them on their arrival. This morning he had no idea where he would be sent, but mentioned that he was due for a long leave of absence, which he intended to spend in America before takinjr up new duties. As Dean of the Corps he has proved immensely popular, and has become a well known citizen of this city. Members of the corps describe hi in. as an ideal and highly esteemed head, who understands how to make himself liked and respected. Mr. Boyle succeeded Mr. Karl de G. MacVitty.
