BUSINESS LIVENS UP. .AUSTRALIANS SELLING. Over the last 24 hours business on the Auckland Stock Exchange has been quite brisk, with special attention devoted to Australian issues. Amongst these Broken Hills are still prominent, but finished with a slightly easier trend at this morning's call, when the market lay between £3 .11/0 and £8 12/. Australian Glass had a good run, arid a number of parcels changed hands at the advanced price of £4 13/0, after which buyers dropped back to £4 13/6, sellers asking 1/ higher. In the banking section New Zealands had business, cum dividend, at £2 5/, and were then quoted ex dividend at £2 4/ to £2 4/6. Bycrofts touched a new high level, with business at £2 11/, after which they were quoted ex rights, with buyers at £1 19/ and no sellers. In Government stocks the '55's were easier, and a. parcel was placed 5/ down, at £106. . . , Tlie pastoral section looked weaker, witli sellers of. Abraham and Williams prefeience, Dalget.vs and Goldsbroughs, and no buyers, luirmers' Trading shares were in demand, with buyers for the ordinaries at 19/6, for the A preferences at £1 .!/» autl , for the B's at £1. . I The Woolworth group showed an improvement, presumably based upon^the 1 announcement of the New Zealand Com-, pany's interim dividend. These sharrj. sold 12/ higher, at £0, after which sellers dropped out, with buyers still in at £8 17/6. Buyers for Sydneys moved up to ho 11/, sellers 4/ higher. Dominion Breweries Rise. A further large turnover of business marked the noon call, when a feature was a sharp rise in Dominion Breweries following the dividend announcement. bales were made at 1/6 above late values, diopping to £1 5/, at which buyers and sellers were fairly evenly balanced. There was a further transaction in Commercial Banks at the morning rate, and latest buyers stood at a penny below. Holders of Bank of New Zealands raised their limits 3d. . Insurances were still fairly bare on tiie market, but holders of South British came in at £4 11/6. , Australian Glass continued firm, with buyers' offers raised to £4 13/. Other industrials all appeared steady, wit 1 1 ° n 'y slight adjustments in limits. IS ew Zealand Newspapers, in their first sale since the dividend, had a basis of £2 1/9, and were still wanted at that' figure, while holders asked £2 2/3. Mount Morgans gained another penny in sympathy with the Australian movement.
