NEWEST STYLES.
IDEAS FROM OVERSEAS. Some of the latest vagaries of fashion in England, the Continent and America were mentioned by Mr. D. MacGregor, merchandise manager for Myers Emporium, Melbourne, who is returning by the Mariposa from a six months' trip overseas. Coloured heels, soles and toes are the latest in hosiery when worn with plated and open shoes, while lace stockings have been devised to give full effect to the nail-painting vogue. Artificial flowers as an adjunct to day and evening wear, particularly the latter, are much availed of, while brightness in colour is evidenced in gloves, bags, belts and shoes, the colour scheme harmonising with any two of these accessories. There is a vogue for charm bangles in metal or diamante in America, the nature of the charm ranging from miniature cars to animals. The newest thing in furs popularly worn in London is shaded effects in necklets capes. Shorts and shirts for women and men have been a feature of the beach life at Honolulu, and now there is a vogue for printed silks in both these garments. Die knitted twine shirts, an improvement 011 the "dish rag" garment, are also very popular for beach and sports wear.
