PROGRESSIVE LEAGUE.

MEETING AT NORTHCOTE. The speaker yesterday afternoon at the monthly meeting of the Northcote Women's Progressive League was Mrs. M. Carr-Smitli, the convener of the Auckland Hospital Auxiliary sewing circle, who gave a talk 011 the working of that circle, displaying "new" garments made from old ones. Songs by Mrs. Janet Blake were greatly enjoyed. The accompanist was Mrs. N. R. Harris. The secretary, Mrs. A. Taylor, received a cordial welcome after an absence owing to illness, and appreciation was conveyed to Mrs. D. P. O'Leary for acting as secretary in the interim. The collection at Xorthcote, organised by the Mayoress. Mrs. R. Martin, for * the Auckland Community Sunshine Association and the Society for the Protection of Women and Children amounted to £S l!'/(>. In opening the proceedings the gathering stood in silence in passing a vote of condolence to the relatives of the late Mrs. G. R. Hutchinson, to whom the president, Mrs. Archie Campbell, paid a tribute for her work in the community and as a member of the league.

KOHIMARAMA BRANCH. The Kohimarama-Mission Bay Progressive League held an enjoyable card party 011 Monday afternoon in the Anglican Church Hall. Kclwyn Avenue, Kohimarama.
