LEAGUE FOOTBALL.

MAORI REP. TEAM. PLAYERS FOR PRACTICE. The following players have been chosen to go into practice with a view to the Auckland Maori League representative match against the Auckland League reps, at Carlaw Park on the King's Birthday, and from them the team will be selected: Broughton, L. Brown, Hcnii, Murray, Bickerton, Brimble (2), Rata, Tawhai, Mahima, A. Nathan, Proctor, Mitai, Pickrang, Watene, Kawe, Aro, Newton, P. Minnix. AFFAIRS OF REFEREES. At the meeting of the Auckland Rugby League Referees' Association last evening, Mr. L. E. Bull presiding, it was reported that a ruling was being sought from the New Zealand Referees' Association as to how the game should be restarted when the ball; kicked off from half-way, travelled on the full over the dead ball line. The junior management committee requested that referees should give adequate reports in cases where players were ordered off the field. A satisfactory understanding, it was stated, had been reached as the result of a conference with Mr. D. Wilkie, chairman of the junior board, regarding the of groundsmen, who could address teams, if necessary, before a game, at the interval, or after a game. It was agreed that sucli" officials could be called upon by referees, if to intervene in the interests of good control. It was pointed out that a referee, having called off a game, had no power to award .win. . His duty .was ,to report the circifnistances to-the management. A referee, who said the incident probably referred to a match he controlled, mentioned that the game was not called off by him, one team having left the field. The resignation .of Mr. W. Weston owing to ill-health was accepted with regret and Mr. T. Skinner was granted leave of absence.
