SEX OFFENCES.

In recent publications of the newspapers I have noticed how prevalent this crime is becoming. At the Supreme Court recently Mr. Justice Fair sentenced a man with two previous convictions to one year's reformative detention for indecent assault on a girl 74 years old. Perhaps this is the reason why it is increasing. The penalty is not severe enough to act as a restraint for such crimes. One man was sentenced to six years' imprisonment, but he was only one man out of several at the last session of the Supreme Court who received an exemplary sentence. Before these crimes stop, I think more drastic measures will liavo to be taken in dealing with these offenders. If they cannot control themselves, why have them loose amongst our children? A SUFFERING MOTHER. '
