AIT AMENDMENT DEFEATED. (By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) ; WELLINGTON, Saturday. The Transport Licensing Amendment j Bill was passed by the Legislative Coun- ( eil to-day. There was only one division, ( the Hon. I?. Masters testing the feeling j of the Council with an amendment that provided that appeals from the licensing authority should be heard by a magistrate and not by the Minister of Transport. The amendment was defeated by 18 ] votes to 9, those voting for the amend- j ment being: Sir James Allen, the Hon. ; D. Buddo, the Hon. E. R. Davis, the Hon. i W. Hayward, the Hon. L. M.
