TRACK GALLOPS.

THIS MORNING'S WORK. SEVERAL HORSES SCHOOLED, An exceptionally heavy frost, in fact one of the heaviest for years was experienced at Ellerslie this morning. However, there was little fast work early and the going after breakfast was perfect. No. 1 grass track was open and some usful gallops were recorded. Several horses were schooled in the centre and also over a round of the steeplechase course. No. I Grass. Persian Lady and Whirlmint were the only two to gallop before breakfast, and were timed to run six furlongs in 1.20 1-5. They ran the first three in 41 2-ss, and there was little between them at the finish, though Persian Lady impressed the better of the pair. Black Marlin traversed a round in 1.56 1-5. Lord Val assisted him ' over the last six, and was just in front at the finish, the latter distance being run in 1.20 1-5 and the final half mile in 52 2-ss. Both horses did their work nicely. Solaria reeled off half a mile in 49 4-ss, which was the best of the morning over the distance. He put plenty of dash into his work. Morning Sun did strong work, but was not timed. Tooley Street ran home from the three-furlong post in 37 l-ss, finishing on strongly. Billy Boy and Santoft were allotted sound work over a mile and a half, but were not after time. Survoy, after running his first three furlongs in 41 l-ss, completed six furlongs in 1.21 1-5. Killadar went away in front of the seven-furlong post and was timed to run his last six furlongs in 1.23 4-5. Grateful strode over a couple of rounds, but was not unduly bustled. Tangled and Royal Limond completed a round in 1.59 3-5. They ran the last mile in 1.51 2-5, and the final six furlongs in 1.24 3-5, finishing on terms. Bellbroney was going easily while running the last half mile of his work in 56 2-ss. Shy was aiso allotted useful work, taking 55 l-5s for his last half-mile. Over a similar distance Master Bruce registered 52 l-ss. Umtali did strong work over a mile, but was not timed. The Junipers. The Smuggler (Cooper) and Soloist (Webby) jumped a couple of hurdles in the centre in good style. They afterwards ran seven furlongs on the No. 1 grass in 1.35 3-5. The Smuggler looks well after hia race on Saturday. Booklaw (Baker) gave a useful display over six hurdles in the centre. Summer Hill (Trillo) went with him over the first four, but fenced rather carelessly and was then pulled up. Count Roussillion (McLaughlin) jumped nine hurdles in the centre. He hit the sixth obstacle and also clouted the last; otherwise his display was satisfactory. Silver Wattle (Lawson) pleased better than Winding Trail (Carmont) over six of the same fences. Adsum (Baker) gave a safe display over a round of the steeplechase course, but did not have a great amount of pace on. Bells of Bow (Lawson) accompanied him over the fences on the flat the first time. Valpeen (Bowden), Forest Glow (C. Thomson), Windsor Lad (Muir) and Friendly Boy (McLaughlin) were Schooled over a round of the steeplechase "course and got through their task in good style. They finished as named, the first mentioned pair being practically on terms when .they went over the stonewall the second time. Royal Dispute (L. Dulieu), Golden England (J. Mcßae) and Cometra' (A. McDonald) went with them. Royal Dispute was soon in the rear and balked at the second fence on the hill and was not .further perserved with. Golden England, who was one of the leaders when they cleared the stonewall the first time, was then pulled off and finished up by doing strong work on the No. 1 grass. Cometra went over the hill, and, after jumping the stonewall at the bottom, finished tip on the sand track. Valpeen. Forest Glow and Windsor Lad each gave excellent displays, and Friendly Boy shaped well for a novice. : Gascille, who was a bit off colour recently, has been physicked and will prp- • biibly be seen out on Saturday.
