,f SUICIDE TRIAL SEQUEL. y (Received 9.30 a.m.) j*_ MELBOURNE, this day. ;t The case of Laclilan McLachlan, the d ex-policeman who was charged with murder following a "suicide pact" in which the other party to the pact. George Viekers, fatally shot himself last December, was before the Criminal Court yesterday, when the jury, directed by Mr. Justice Lowe, returned a verdict I of not guilty of murder but guilty of | conspiracy to murder. McLachlan was | immediately released on his own bond of £20 for his good behaviour. Since the case was before the Court -e on Friday, Mr. Justice Lowe consulted •e his brother judges on the i, problem which arose from the J . findings.
