STRANGE ACTION.

CURTAINS SET ON FIRE. MISCHIEF CHARGE FOLLOWS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) BLENHEIM, tliis day. A queer story was related at the Polico Court this morning of a halfblind tea hawker, William Spenee Jackson, who, after sharing two gallons of beer in a friend's house, set fire to some window curtains when his host's back was turned. Robert O'Sullivan, the man who was entertaining Jackson, averted a serious blaze at the expense of burned hands by tearing down the flaming material. Jackson, who was charged with mischief, was ordered to reimburse O'Sullivan for tlio damage. Defendant offered no excuse or motive for his action.
