WAIKATO RACING CLUB

OTOROHAfiIGA HANDICAP.

DIVISIONS ANNOUNCED,

Owing to the number of acceptors in the Otorohanga Handicap, to be run at the Waikato Racing Club's meeting at Te Rapa next Saturday, being in excess of the safety number, the Waikato Racing Club hate decided to divide the event. The first division will form the second rkee on the programme, and the second division will be the sixth race division will carry a stake of iloO, ana have a sweepstake of £2 each. Owin<r to a misunderstanding the name of Ilorotiu was omitted from the nominations and acceptances in the Otorohanga Handicap, there being a race called the Horotiu Handicap on the programme, and Tooley Street, who is in the same stable, was included, looley Street's name therefore lias been deleted, and Horotiu has been included, and her weight is 7.8. WORK AT TE RAPA.

ARRIVALS FROM THE SOUTH. (By Telegrapn.—Special to "Star.") HAMILTON, this day. The going on the course, proper, on which the poles were about 30ft out, was in comparatively good order ior galloping at Te llapa this morning, and several useful efforts were recorded. Gay Flier ran three furlongs in 435, Dark Shadow and Dust Up recording 40s for a similar effort. Respectful and Alby completed five furlongs in 1.8 1-5. Calcutta dashed oyer six furlongs in 1.24, the last half-mile in 58s. Prince Acre and Gay Seton were not doing their best to run six furlongs in 1.28. A smart half-mile was credited to Orac, Le Chasseur and Hunting Mars, who came home in 53 l-se. Silver Briar, assisted over the last two furlongs by May Song, took 1.12 1-5 for five furlongs. Lion Heart finished slightly in front ox Sirona at the completion of a round in 2.'), the first five furlongs occupying 1.9%. Bouglialhit out freely from the half-mile, taking 535. Flit Acre and Lilbert finished practically on terms at the end of live furlongs in 1.8%, Gloucester being some lengths away. Little Saint was under restraint throughout five furlongs in 1\12%. Instalment, and Royal Mistake occupied 1.10 for five furlongs, the last three, taking 41Vis. Wahine Reilii finished clear oi Rucemosus at the end of five furlongs in 1.7%. Tradesman, who looks improved, ran home from the live-furlong peg in 1.7, the last halfmile in 54%5. King Key ran the last half-mile of his work in 545. Blackman and Adalene completed five furlongs in 1.9, Trouvaille running the same distance in similar time. Whirling hit out freely over half a mile in 555. Hawthorn; was doing slightly better than Curonis at the end of five furlongs in 1.12. Matoru, who lias taken no harm from his race at Te Awamntu, brought Standstead home over half a mile in 565. Prince of Orange hit out freely over a round in 2.14. Arack (Smith) gave an encouraging exhibition over a round of the steeplechase country. Summer Hill (McLaughlin) and Curlew (Muir) were associated over four hurdles, the former hitting the second to last obstacle and dislodging his rider. Cur- | lew's exhibition was a good one.

Diacquedoon (Fergusson), accompanied by Indiscretion (L. Dulieu), was sent over a round of the steeplechase country and gave an improved display. Both jumped confidently .throughout. Allegrettp (McLaughlin), Imperial Prince (L. Dulieu) and Te Monatekapa (Cotter) were associated over the steeplechase country. Allegretto gave a sound exhibition, finishing well clear of the other pair. He handled his obstacles in fine style. 11. Dulieu arrived this morning with Bantry, Grateful, Silk Sox, Mustang and Gold Mission, Sporting Song being brought over from Te Awamutu on Saturday evening. Other visitors include Sea Fox, Dollar Bill, Rasouli, Arctic Star, Royal Limond, Jolly Beggar, Glenavon, Glenthawn and Indiscretion. Riding engagements for Te Rapa include:— N. 11. McKenzie, Sinking Fund, Lilbert. Respectful; J. McLaughlin, Count Roussillion, Calcutta; A. Gilmer, Stanstead, Racewhip, London, Tradesman; H. Gilmer, Glenation.

AT TE AWAMUTU,

WINLONA SPRINTS NICELY. (By Telegraph.—Special to " Star.") TE AWAMUTU, this day. The course proper was available for fast work this morning, the flags being out about 18ft. The going was heavy. The inner grass was used for pace work. Loombination was first out, being sent away from the seven-furlong post. He was to have been assisted over the last five furlongs by Superior Guard, who broke away well ahead. Loombination took 1.37 and Superior Guard came home from five in 1.8%. Arawa Rose was sent a mile, which occupied 1.52. Five furlongs in 1.13 saw Sweet Rose working easily. Cyllaros was not after time while working over six furlongs. Spalpiko was sent two miles. He was moving very evenly throughout to take 4.15, the last mile in 2.6. Ruaville was allotted half a mile, taking 555, while his stable companions, Queen Nona and Winlona, completed a similar task nicely in 52 2-ss, Winlona having the advantage. Illuminagh (Mcßae) was schooled over throe of the big fences, but did not have much pace on. Doing pace work were Tree of Heaven, Tonnerre. Quadroon, Little Ruse, Cromwell, Namakia, Cheval de Yolee, Jonathan, Gallio, Lady Voyonne, Tuaheahe, Glenation. Valpai, Musquil and Nugget. Riding engagements for Te Rapa are: — P.
