RIFLE SHOOTING.

CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS,

The weather conditions favoured the local clubs at Penrose on Saturday last when the club championship series was continued over the 800 and 900 yards ranges. Only one possible was registered, this being iHade at 800 yards by J. G. Jones-Parry (Akarana). The best shoot of the day came fiom T. L. Blomfield (City) who compiled 49, 48—97. A. W. Harris (City) was next with 49 47—96; H. J. Verral (City), 47, 48—-So; h! Simmonda (City), 46, 48—94; E. J. C. Reston (Akarana), 47, 47—94, and J. G. Jones-Parry (Auckland), 50, 44—94 were next in order. There were nine other cards the < B°section j. G. Kelly (City) handed In the best card of 45, 46—91, whilst J. Cossar (Akarana) made 45, 45—90. In the club championships very little difference has taken place as regards the leaders since last week, but several Improved their positions slightly. For the Akarana Club R. F. Wakefield is still in front and not likely to be displaced with 506. J. Jones-Parry improved from 55i to j6l, J. R Draffln is still 535, While E. J. C. Reston and W. Powell improved from 548 and t>47 respectively to 553 eacS. In tho City Club, Bowes, who has not shot in the two last competitions, still leads with 753; H. Simmonds improved from 745 to 752, and Harris from 741 to 749. Next in order are S. C. Parkinson 739. and T. h. Blomfleld 736. The City Club's championship will he completed on Saturday next at 800 and 900 yards. PAEROA DEFENCE CLUB.

The Paeroa Defence Club held its weekly shoot at Komata oil Saturday over the 200 and 300 yard ranges. Scores: —F. C. Hubljard, 47, 47 —94; H. A. Morrison, 44, 49 93; A. Smith. 42, 47—89; V. .T. Sherson, 42, 42—84; K. Morrison, 38, 37—75.
