CHARGE WITHDRAWN.
ALLEGED WILFUL EXPOSURE.
GISBORNE POLICE INSPECTOR.

GISBORNE, this day. A charge of wilful obscene exposure on Waikanae Beach against Henry Martin, police inspector at Gisborne, was withdrawn t»-day. Leave to withdraw the charge was sought on January 31 by Mr. L. T. Bur- j nard, who acted on behalf of the woman who proceeded against the accused on a private information. The magistrate, , Mr. E. L. Walton, then said that in view of the allegations he would not grant the application, but would report the matter to Wellington. Accordingly the matter was adjourned and when the case was called to-day Mr. Burnard repeated his application foi withdrawal. In doing so lie undertook to make available, if called upon bv any office of the Department, any information or evidence he had ill connection with the matter. The application for leave to withdraw was then granted.
