NOTORIOUS AMERICAN CASE. (Received 9.30 a.m.) NEW YORK, January 24. A jury at Decatur, Alabama, yesterday found Heywood Patterson, a negro, guilty of a criminal assault on two white women and condemned him to 75 years' imprisonment. In this now celebrated case, in which nine negro youths were jointly accused, Patterson has three times previously been found guilty and sentenced to death, only to have the convictions over-ruled by the Supreme Court.
