ISLANDS' LOYALTY.

MESSAGES TO MR. SAVAGE. PROCLAMATION IX SAMOA. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON", Friday. The following telegram to the Prime Minister, Mr. Savage, was sent by the Administrator of Samoa, dated January 23: "The proclamation of the accession of King Edward VIII. was read at 11 a.m. to-day before a large assembly of citizens, both Europeans and Samoans. Police and ex-servicemen formed a guard of honour. I have received from every side expressions of sympathy in the death of King George j V. and of loyalty to King Edward VIII., including tokens from the islanders, various missions, and the Chinese and German communities. A special deputation from the Concordia Club waited on me, and asked to have conveyed to you their deep sympathy in the loss to the Empire and assuring you of their loyalty to the new King." The Island Council of Nine sent the following telegram to Mr. Savage, dated January 23: "Xiue mourns and weeps with Her Most Gracious Majesty and the Royal Family because of the death of our beloved King George V. Xiue hails with joy our new Sovereign, King Edward VIIL- May lie live long to reign over us, and may his reign be one of peace and. prosperity for all men and all nations. All the people of Xiue are loyal to the King and the Empire."
