SWIMMING BATH WEEDED.

ON EASTERN WATERFRONT,

(To the Editor.)

A swimming bath on the eastern ' wat*r front would be a boon for picnickers and ' dents these days. As everybody knows- who frequents the beaches at Mission Bay Koh 1 marama and St. Helier's, a swim at low rS entails a long walk. This week it soThan pened that the tides were morninw and e ing, which meant that many who objecTtn the walk had to rise early or do without th swim. Now the middle of the day or a afternoon is the time when people most need a dip in the summer, and there would h small harvest of revenue for the city fathe* if they provided a bath in a handy place £ course, the one bath would have to serve th three bays, so the obvious place to put st seems to be at Kohi. If anyone doubh this, let him drive along the waterfront durint any afternoon and judge for himself. He will find each beach crowded, with the bimnwt crowd at Mission Bay, and let him note tta number of suubathers on the sand. Each one of these is a potential customer f or a swim ining bath at some time of the day, and the number is growing every year. If a Vo{ could be taken on the question of site the ' choice would be between Kohi. a"nd Mission Bay, and when the future trend of population is considered Kohi. seems the right and proper place. A bath there would be conveniently situated in relation to the greater part of th' Tamaki district. IC ONE OF THE CROWD.
