NO CAMPING.
FORT WAIKATO PROBLEM. .(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON", this clay. The Raglan County Council has decided to forbid camping on the side of the road and other council property at Fort Waikato owing to the unsatisfactory water supply and inadequate drainage facilities. However, camping on private property cannot be forbidden.
At a recent meeting of the council the chairman, Mr. H. W. Wilson, stated that the position was serious from a health point of view, and unless a grant of £000 to provide suitable accommodation was made by the Government it would be necessary to forbid camping. It was usual for over 1000 campers to spend their vacation in the locality.
Efforts are still being made by the council to secure the necessary financial support, and it is hoped that steps will be taken immediately the Government Departments resume after the Christmas holidays to form a domain at Fort Waikato.
