TRAFFIC IN THE-NORTH.
CARAVANS POPULAR
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.)
WHANGAREI, this day.
Tourist traffic to the north is -proceeding in a steady stream, and a large number of' cars passed through Whangarei yesterday and to-day. A noticeable feature 'of the traffic this year is. the large number of trailers and caravans which have sprung into "popular favour. Many of the trailers are fitted in a most elaborate manner with all conveniences, including electric light, patent cookers, and water supplies. The Northern patrol of the Automobile Association stated" to-day that the traffic' passing through Whangarei had not been quite so heavy as that at Christmas last year, but many are proceedng up the west coast first, and making the round trip. Reports also show, that there are many motorists camped between Auckland and Whangarei. The roads throughout the North are in fairly good condition. In some places there are a few p6t holes, but these ■will be graded shortly.
