AUSTRALIA'S NO. 1 LADY.
Many in the Kooyong gallery at Melbourne wore struck by the similarity of Jack Crawford and Thelma Coyne's backhands, declares Harry Hopman. I •asked the new champion if she had studied Crawford's stroke on this wing, and she was surprised to learn of the likeness. ■
Miss Coyne, by her capture of the Victorian title, following her victory over the same opponent, Miss Joan Hartigan, in the New South Wales championships hist month, is entitled to be referred to now as Australia's No. 1 woman player.
