NEW GOLF CLUB MANAGER
Tho Eastern Golf Club (Melbourne) manager, Mr. Alan Wood, has been appointed manager of "the Victoria Golf Club at Cheltenham.
The president of the Victoria Golf Club (Judge Foster), in making the announcement, said that the new manager would take over his duties early next month.
During his four years as manager at tho Eastern Club. Alan Wood has proved a popular and talented manager. In 1920-30, he was appointed captain.
His work in the organisation of the annual Eastern A.I.F. Cup has been conspicuous.
Last year he initiated the secretariesmanagers' movement, which has resulted in regular social and playing gatherings of these golf executives.
Wood, wljo is an Australian, began golf 12 years ago when doing engineering work in South Africa. He is a foundation member of Eastern Golf Club, and has materially contributed to the club's advance.
' The "break" from Eastern will be a keen one. He will be missed by members and associates as keenly as he will miss many with whom he hat! been closely associated.
He is a versatile golfer, formerly on scratch, now rated on 2. For the past six years he has been runner-up in the Eastern Club championship.
