SWEDE TENNIS PLAYER.

Karl Schroeder, the giant Swede, who defeated the Germans, Von Cramm and Henkel, in an indoor international match at Hamburg recently, is not unknown to our Davis Cup players, writes Harry Hopman. Adrian Quist met and beat him in four.sets at Wimbledon last year, the score being o—3, I—o, G—2, o—3. "He had a terrific service and .forehand drive," said Quist, "and I can easily imagine him hitting Von Cramm off a fast wooden indoor court with his cannonball deliveries. When I' played him, Schroeder was a big, heavy man, but the cable report states .that he has trained down to 13 stone. I expect that there is much more devil in his game now that he has-thrown off the superfluous fat."
