AUCKLAND TROTS.

THE SECOND DAY.

Rey Spec Wins Champion Handicap—Smooger Runs to Form — Narrowly Beats Grace McElwyn in Bledisloe —Valdor Wins The Derby.

The summer meeting of the Auckland Trotting Club was continued at Alexandra Park this afternoon. The weather, though overcast early, cleared and there was a good attendance, while the track was in first-class order. The Champion Handicap went to Rey Spec, who finished second in the Auckland Trotting Cup yesterday, and he returned a great price considering that performance. Smooger also ran to form by annexing the Bledisloe Handicap, while the Great Northern Derby was won by the favourite, Valdor.
