TWILIGHT.

(By Molly Curtin, 62. Clarence Street. Ponsonby, W. 2.; aged 14 years.) So softly comes the twilight down Along our little street, Surprised, the friendly little stars Peep out, the night to greet. So gracefully the silver moon Goes calmly sailing hy, While the blue curtains of the night Are drawn across the sky. The gentle mists of evening change The buildings gaunt and hare, And lay a lovely, softening touch Blurri-g harsh outlines there. And when Life's twilight falls upon -; Our troubled, care-filled days, The stars of love and friendship shine To brighten shadowed ways. The dear, deep silences of God Their lovely peace impart, And twilight falls, a healing thing, To rest the weary heart.
