My Dear Girls, — A Happy New Year to you all, and may each and every one of my Sunbeams have lots of good luck and much happiness during 1936. Did you all have a Merry Christmas, and was Santa good to you this year? Ido hope so, for Christmas can be such a wonderfully jolly time, especially when one is young. Well, dear Sunbeams, I remember promising in my last letter to tell you who it was I met and stayed with while holiday-making in Christchurch. "Aunt Hilda," no less! Imagine that—oh, I was so very thrilled. Aunt Hilda, you know, adopts every South Island boy and girl as a niece or nephew, and a wonderfully popular auntie she is too. She conducts the children's pages in the Christchurch "Star-Sun," and one sunny morning along came the editor looking, oh, most mysterious. He had a wonderful plan up his sleeve.
