PLANTING AUTUMN CROCUSES.
It may be well to remind readers interested in autumn crocuses and eolchicums, who wish to plant some this season, that they should order them from their bulb dealer to be delivered as soon as possible. Most of the colchicums and all the autumn crocuses have now ripened their foliage, and the growers will be lifting them. As soon as they can be obtained they should be planted. The colchicums, or meadow saffrons, may be planted 4in to Gin deep, and the crocuses about 2in. The former will thrive in heavier soil than the latter. They are good for planting in grass, but the colchicums should not bo employed for meadows where cattle have access, for they are poisonous. The crocuses are harmless to cattle.
