AEROPLANES GO SOUTH. COOK STRAIT SERVICE. Leaving Hobsonville yesterday morning the two de Havilland Rapide aeroplanes which are to run a service between Wellington and Nelson commencing on Monday next, arrived at Nelson at 4.30 in the afternoon. On the trip down the 'planes, which were flown by the Cook Strait Airways Company's chief pilot, Flight-Lieutenant G. Bolt, and Flying-Officer A. T. Orchard, made stops at New Plymouth, Wanganui and Wellington.
The pilots were given a hearty reception on arrival at their destination, and Mr. H. Cock, chairman of the company, in replying to speakers who wished the company every success, said the bringing of Wellington within one hour of Nelson, with two services daily across the Strait, was a most important development in the history of the Dominion.
