RINKS CHAMPIONSHIP.

THREE ROUNDS ON BOXING DAY.

Sixty-eight rinks competed on six greens yesterday in the opening rounds of the Auckland Bowling Centre's rinks championship tourney. The programme provides for nine rounds of 21 heads, and section play will occupy to-day and to-morrow. Up to 15 rinks will qualify for post-section play, and these will assemble at the Carlton greens on Monday morning to continue on the two-life system. Results of later rounds on Thursday:—

ST. HELIER'S CLUB. The result of a progressive pairs bowling tournament conducted yesterday by the St. Heller's Bowling Club is as follows: — Skips: J. Bradshaw, 1; H. J. Smith, 2. Leads: S. Greenhough, 1 ; 15. Cox, 2.

EDENDALE CLUB. To-inrs to represent the Edendale Bowling Club against Rocky Nook to-morrow : — At Rocky Nook: McMillan, Ball, Mayhill, Jackson; Pollock, Cndness. Hill, Roan; Bhikemore, Bluck, Smith, Greenwood. At Bdendale: Stehr, Grant, Anncsin. James; Fielding, East, Bradstiaw, Edmonds; Nimmo, Noad, Bayliss, Brownett.

WHANGAREI CLUB. The Whangarei Bowling Club held a progressive pairs tournament yesterday. Five rounds were played, at the conclusion of which Dr. H. A. Good won the Skips with Ave wins, while T. Nobes and G. Marshall, Ln the leads, tied each with four wins and one loss. In the play-off Nobes won toy one point.

WHITIORA CLUB. A one-day full-rink tournament was held on the Whitiora Bowling Club's green, Hamilton, yesterday, thirteen teams from the Hamilton, Claudelands, Railway and Whitiora Clubs taking part. Five rounds of 13 heads were played. F. Swain's team from the Whitiora Club won with 4J wins. The other three members of the victorious rink wero Rotheram, Booth and Davis.

MORRINSVILLE TOURNEY.

CLAUDELANDS WINS AGAIN. (From Our Own Correspondent.) MORRINSVILLUS, this day. Fourteen rinks from all over South Auckland competed in the Morrlnsville Bowling Club's annual Boxing Day fullrink tournament. The winning team was C. A. Speight's Claudelands Club rink with five wins and no losses. Rinks skipped by Gee (Te Awaaputu) and Frulsh (Claudelands) tied for 'second place with four wins and one loss each, while Powell (Te Aroha), Hollard (Putaruru) and Sing (Morrlnsville) had three wins. This was the fourth year in succession that a Claudelands rink had won the Morrlnsville tournament.
