CHRISTMAS ISSUE.
THE "STAR" SUPPLEMENT. FEATURES FOR SATURDAY. In keeping with the festive season, the Magazine section of the "Auckland Star" on Saturday will take the form of a special Christmas Supplement, in which the spirit and tradition of the times will bo found to be adequately sustained. In addition to several special articles dealing with Yuletids, ' its observance, significance and world-wide inspiration, there are several short stories with a
seasonable application, besides the prizewinners in the "Star" short story competition. As in past years, this feature has attracted a large number of entrants from practically every part of the Dominion, and the standard of the contributions was decidedly high. The prize-winning entries are: I,] "Harvest," by Eileen M. Johnston, of Otorolianga; 2, "Child of Christmas," by! Ailsa Doone, of Herne Bay, Auckland; 3, "The Sawing," by Margaret A. Parker, of Epsom, Auckland. Christinas being largely the children's festivity, they have been specially catered for in a greatly enlarged "Enzcd Junior, 5 ' extending to 16 pages, and containing many seasonable features, besides the usual and ever-popular coloured comic, with two pages of Christmas reading. Appropriate to the occasion is a picture page of beautiful beach shells, with notes for the amateur collector. 1 The "Star" Christmas Supplement will be found to be interesting, edifying and entertaining.
