/ # Melbourne "Bookie" Attacked By Bandits. "NOT SO LUCKY NEXT TIME." (Received 11 a.m.) MELBOURNE, this day. Masked bandits fired on a car driven by Francis O'Connor, a bookmaker, after he had escaped an attempted holdup. Bullets pierced the door and lodged in the seat and upholstery close to Aubrey Parkinson, a jockey, who was travelling with O'Connor.

An hour later, Mr. O'Connor's .hotel was 'phoned and a voice said, "Tell O'Connor he was lucky to-night. He will not be so lucky next time." This is the second occasion O'Connor has foiled hold-up men. He was last time.
