GENEROUS RELIEF.

PRIME MINISTER'S APPEAL CASE OF EX-SOLDIERS. The Prime Minister, Air. Savage, made a special appeal to the Auckland Patriotic War Relief Association through Mr. E. J. Phelan, a member of the association, this morning, to try and treat applicants to it for relief as generously as possible during ihe festive season. Mr. Savage intimated that if this if.'ere done he would be very happy. Mr. Phelan stated that the Patriotic Association had always given returned soldiers a little-extra assistance at Christmas time, and yesterday members of the association visited the Auckland Hospital, T.B. huts, Evelyn Firth Ho:ne, and the Veterans' Home, and made gifts to the inmates in accordance with the procedure followed for n number of years.
