GOVERNMENT DEFENDED.
SAVED FARMERS FROM RUIN.
An attentive hearing was given Mr. T. J. Fleming, National Government candidate, for Roskill, last night at the Baptist Church Hall, which was filled. The relief legislation of the Government was In aceont with the legislative principles or British and Roman law. The principle of the good of the State as the highest law had been recognised by civilisation since the days of Babylon. He described the phrases used by certain candidates referring to the sanctity of contracts as sanctimonious humbug. The candidate was accorded a unanimous vote of confidence with applause.
