LEAGUE OF MOTHERS.

TAKAPUNA. A meeting of the Takapuna branch of the League of Mothers was held at the Women's Memorial Hall, Takapuna, on Monday afternoon. Mrs. A. Reynolds presided. An address on the cai c and training of children was given by Dr. Elizabeth Cole, who outlined the child welfare movement from its earliest stages to the present day. Afternoon tea wa-s served by Mesdames Hickey, Winstone, Lewis and Phillips. CITY BRANCH. The monthly meeting of the City Branch of the. League of Mothers was held yesterday in the Airedale Street Mission Hall, and took tho form of a Christmas party. Mrs. P. A. Lindsay, president, occupied the chair. A bouquet of flowers was presented to Mrs. Lindsay with the good wishes of all the mothers. A delightful programme included songs by Mrs. Quedlny, Miss Nancye Hanna, Mrs. Compston, Mrs. Miller and Mrs. Timcwell. Miss Cooke was the accompanist. Recitations by Mrs. Pool and Mifis Anita Coupland were also enjoyed. Afternoon tea was served by members of the committee, and a birthday cake, with eight candles, one for each year the City Branch has been in existence/ was cut by the two oldest members. NO. 3 REMTJERA. The final meeting for the year was held last week, Mrs. P. D. Wright presiding over a large attendance of members. A competition for tho best arranged bowl of flowers was held, and the judge, Mrs. Whitley, awarded the prjze to Mrs. Stanton. The prize vas ,domated by Mrs. Wigg. Congratulations were extended to Mrs. Dearsley, a foundation member of the branch, on the occasion of her golden wedding anniversary, and the winning bowl of flowers presented to her. A bring and buy stall realised the sum of £1 7/0. Mrs. Scott and Miss Woodhead entertained members with vocal and elocutionary items respectively. The president extended seasonal greetings to members, and votes of thanks were passed to the president and to the secretary, Mrs. 1). Silk.
