GOVERNMENT CHOICE. MR. W. A. BISHOP SELECTED. TWO CANDIDATES IN BALLOT. Mr. W. A. Bishop was selected last evening as tho National Government candidate for the Auckland Suburbs scat. A conference of National Political Federation delegates' was held at the Foresters' Hall, New Lynn. The meeting was convened by the provincial organiser, Mr. B. Gordon Edwarda, and Mr. J. Prickett, chairman of the Auckland provincial executive, presided. Tho two candidates nominated for selection were Messrs. W. A. Bishop and T. A. Bishop. Both gave addresses and after answering questions a secret ballot was taken with the result that Mr. W. A. Bishop was chosen. His name will now be forwarded to the leaders of tho party, Mr. Forbes and Mr. Coates, for official endorsement. The seat is at present held by Mr. H. G. R. Mason, representing the Labour party, while Mr. W. Clark has been chosen to represent tho Democrat party. Mr. W. A. Bishop is chairman of the Waitemata County Council. He is a member of different organisations connected with tho county and was the first chairman of tho , Northern Counties' Association.
Resolutions pledging loyalty to the party and united support of the candidate were carried unanimously.
