SPOTLIGHT REVUE CO.

VARIED PROGRAMME PRESENTED. A very enjoyable entertainment entitled '"Titbits On Parade" was given in His Majesty's Theatre on Saturday evening by the Spotlight New Revue Company. The function was presented by Mr. H. Duggan and Mr. H. Hill, and the proceeds were donated to the Auckland Central queen in the Labour party's queen carnival, Miss Peggy Lincoln. During the evening Mr, H. Duggan introduced Miss Lincoln, who expressed her gratitude to the audience for their patronage and the warm enthusiasm with which they received the entertainment. The programme was composed of a surprising variety •of bright items, and reflected great credit on the performers, all of whom were local artists. The orchestra was under the baton of Mr. Pete Simpson, and the pianist was Miss Waratah Wakelyn, who also revealed an unusually pleasing contralto in a song scena with Mr. Jason Christian. Several solos were rendered by the latter artist, while the songs sung by Mr. Jack McCarthy were also enthusiastically received. Miss Doris Morris and Miss Doris Jenkins also contributed pleasing vocal numbers. Among the lighter vocal items were three songs by Mr. Harry Hill, in each of whicli He was assisted by the ballet, the Regal Six, whose many items were gracefully and artistically rendered. Mr. Hill also contributed a humorous musical numberj entitled "Abyssinia," in which he was assisted by Mr. Sandy Sanders, who contributed several other burlesques. These original sketches were heartily enjoyed by the audience. The outstanding feature of the programme was tap dancing contributed by Monte and Carlo. The deftness and perfect rhythm by which their'performances were characterised were warmly appflauded and encored, and this tribute was also paid to Miss Mildred Edwardo, who executed a difficult and intricate tap dance with grace and poise. Another pleasing feature of the programme was the zest with which the entire company sang three popular numbers, "Good Morning, Mr. Sun." "l»iee in China" and "Rid'ng on a Rainbow;." The last-named formed a fitting climax for a most successful evening's entertainment.
