DAIRY "BONUSES."
DEFERRED PAYMENTS.
FARMERS' INCOME. CONSIDERABLE REDUCTION. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CARTERTON, Wednesday. The D-ilefield Co-operative Dairy Company, Ltd., at a meeting in Carterton, carried the following resolution: — "That in view of many newspaper reports of bonuses being paid to dairy fanners we wish to draw attention to the following facts: "(1) These so-called bonuses are in reality deferred payments. "(2) That the total payment to the farmers this season is really less than last year (admittedly an unfinancial year). Dalefield, for instance, while 'paying a total of 10 5-8 d per lb butterfat (well above the Dominion average), is actually distributing approximately €1100 less amongst a slightly larger number of suppliers. "(3) It is estimated that the total income of farmers generally will be lower this year by approximately £.->,000,000." The total value of exports from New Zealand for the production year ended on June 30 last was €42.!).">!).000, as compared with £40,142,000 for the previous year. The figures for butter in the respective years were: —£10,025,121 (1034-35) and .t11.5.W.0" 1 (1933-34); and for wool, £0,327,703 (1934 : 35) and £13,287,458 (1033-34).
