SALVATION ARMY.
Reeentlj' appointed to succeed Commissioner Samuel Brengle as the Salvation Army's •'international spiritual special," Colonel George H. Davis, former chief secretary for the U.S.A. Western Territory, will commence' a three months' campaign in New Zealand at Auckland on September C. Born in Pennsylvania, U.S.A., Colonel Davis received his first corps appointment in 1894. and later became general secretary for the New York Training College. Thence he was transferred to Chicago as chief divisional officer, and was later appointed training; college principal. During the Great War he accompanied the American troops to France, and on his return was promoted to lieutenant-colonel. In command of the inter-mountain division, he directed the Salvation Army's relief work after the disastrous Pne'ble flood. He holds the commission of A.D.C. to the Com-mander-in-Cliief of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States. Mrs. Davis was formerly Captain Anna Swan. They have two sons, one of whom. Captain J. Everett Davis, is in command of the corps at Pittsburg, Kansas.
