TOURNEY AT OPOTIKI. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) OPOTIKI, this day. A boxing tournament held at the Regent Theatre last night, proved the most successful ever held at Opotiki, there being a record crowd. Results:— T. Eua (Opotiki), 11.9, was defeated by Ranapia (Opotiki), 120; Mcßae (Whakatane), 9.10, defeated Ricks (Opotiki), 9.5; M. Burke (Wainui), 9.9, beat L. Connor (Opotiki), 9.0; H. Heeney (Gisborne). 10.5, beat Mulhern (Opotiki) 10.6- P Bennett (Opotiki), 11.6, beat H. Woods (Whakatane). 10.0: Welle (Gisborne), 10.0, beat L. Parkinson (Opotiki). 30.10: Mason fKotorual. 6.7. beat J. Donnelly (Opotiki). 7.8: M. Callajihan (Gisborne), 9.11 knocked out Clark (Opotiki), 10.0; L. Roderick (Opotiki). 9.10. defeated Duncan (Rotonia), 10.7: Hapeta (Rotorua), 13.0. drew with W. Jensen (Poverty Bay champion). The bout wae the worst ever seen in Opotiki. both competitors hanging on continuously. The star bout was G. Lysaght (Opotiki), 10.8. versus V. Davy (Poverty Bay lightweight champion), 10-5, five rounds. Lysaght did most of the forcing, but Davy showed greater skill. and outboxed Lysaght. Dnv tried hard for a kno'k-oiit. lint the Opotiki boy held out till the finish. Davy aleo was exhausted when the gong went.
