BUSINESS IS FAIR. MOST VALUES STEADY. GAS SHARES SLIP. Australian banks are definitely easier, and Now South Wales were quoted between £31 15/ and £33, with Commercials from 16/ to 17/. New Zealand banks, on the other hand, were steady. New Zealands had fresh business at £2 11/3 and Reserves at £6 10/. There was a good demand for insurances with inquiries for practically every listed line. Auckland Gas shares were weak and offers to sell the ordinaries at £1 o/10 ami the contributing at £1 failed to bring a counter from buyers. In Government stocks, '40's and 55a wore firm. The former were in demand at £101 10/ and no seller, while the longer term was quoted between £112 5/ and £113 10/. Banks Improve. Business was only moderate at the noon call, the most notable feature being a weakening in Auckland Gas, which moved down in steps to £1 5/6 and then appeared steady. More were wanted at the reduced price'and holders stood 3d above, at £1 5/9 Banks recovered a little, and offers for New South Wales were advanced to £32 and for Reserves to £6 10/.
