BOXER NOT DEAD.

"BILLY" MURPHY'S CONDITION AN INCORRECT REPORT. Owing to a confusing of names in communicating with the Auckland Public Hospital, it was incorrectly reported yesterday afternoon that Mr. Thomas William ("Billy") Murphy, former feather-weight boxing champion of the world, had died. Mr. Murphy was knocked down by a motor cycle when crossing the Great North Road on Monday of last week, and suffered severe concussion and an injury to his pelvis. His condition is still serious, hut improving. When inquiry was made yesterday afternoon as to Mr. Murphy's condition, it was stated that he had died shortly after mid-day. The report of death, however, referred to another man of the same name, but inadvertently was associated with Mr. William Murphy.
