TWO. DROWNED.
CRASH OVER BRIDGE. MEN TRAPPED IN WATER. TRAGIC SOUTHLAND ACCIDENT (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) INVERCARGILL, this day. « A tragic motor accident occurred, last evening, involving the deaths of Mr. Thomas A. Nicholson, and Mr. Allan Timpany. Deceased were respectively manager and secretary of the Linton Coal Company. They had visited the mine at Oliai and had left Otautau for Invercargill at 8 p.m. in drizzling rain. About four o'clock in the morning three men who were proceeding to Nightcaps saw a car in the Aparima River, where it had crashed through the Fairfax bridge. Both bodies were found in the car. The two men, who were married, were prominent in sporting circles. Fairfax is 27 miles, north-west of Invercargill and five miles from Otautau. The Ohai mining settlement is 50 miles from Invercargill.
