AUCKLAND DRAINAGE.
EXPLANATION OF SCHEME.
UNEMPLOYMENT PROBLEM.
A special meeting of the Auckland and Suburban Drainage Board is to be held in the Town Hall Concert Chamber this evening in order that new members may become fully acquainted with all the aspects of the proposed comprehensive drainage scheme for the metropolitan area. Invitations to attend iiave Dceii sent to members and chief executive officers of the local authorities concerned and to members and officers ol tha Auckland Harbour Board, metropolitan members of Parliament, officers ot txovernment Departments, and the president and executive members of the Chamber of Commerce.
The proposed scheme will be the subject of an address by the engineer and secretary of the board. Mr. H. H. Watkins, who was invited to deliver the address by the Mayor arid chairman of the board. Mr. Ernest Davis.
After Mr. VVatkins' address the meeting will discuss a resolution passed recently at Christchurch concerning unemployment, urging, inter alia, an increase in tie relief rates by at least 20 per cent.
