Colonel A. Orsborn, chief secretary of the Salvation Army in New Zealand, left for the South by the Limited last night. ilr. E. C. Hands, general manager ot the New Zealand Broadcasting Board, returned to Wellington by the Limited last night. Mr. H. F. W. Meikle, Mayor of Devonport, was appointed chairman of theXorth Shore Boroughs (Auckland) Water Board to-day, for the fourth successive term. Mr. W. C. Colee has retired from the position of headmaster of the Cliristchurch Normal School after 40 years' service with the Education Department. Lieut.-Colonel C. T. Hand Newton, of Cliristelmrch, hae been appointed honorary surgeon to the GovernorGeneral, Viscount Galway. Mr. J. T. Martin, director of Messrs. Wright, Stephenson and Company, Ltd., will leave for England by the Kemuera on June 7 on a combined business and pleasure tour. He will return via Canada and the United States. Prof. J. A. Bartrum, Prof. P. W. Burbidge, Prof. J. Rutherford, and Mr. A. P. W. Powell, of the staff of the Auckland University College, have returned from the science congress of the Koyal Society at Dunedin. Mr. A. T. Pycroft, president of the Auckland Institute, has returned from Dunedin, where he has been attending , the science congress of the Royal Society of New Zealand.
